The Ideahaus Scrapbook goes back to our beginning. Some stories are more interesting than others, but that tends to be true of most of our lives. Through the years partners, staff, and clients have come and gone. Each has contributed in their own special way to our history (some better than others ;-), and has made Ideahaus what it is today.
Feel free to browse the Scrapbook at your leisure. To quickly access the Scrapbook select a year;
May 5, 1990; Kevin Popovic started Kevin Popovic Image Design (aka, KPID) with his best friend , Tom Dressler when Kevin's daughter, Haley, was born. He was 25, and on that day he had .38¢ in his pocket. Soon after, his father presented him with a Macintosh SE to get things off the ground (Thanks, Dad). The Mission then is not too different than it is today.
June 1990; Our first paid project won't be found in the portfolio, but it did mean a great deal at the time. This flyer for an office building event boosted gross sales to $96 ;-)
January 1991; KPID opens a studio in the old Duquesne Brewery, South Side Pittsburgh. Up the freight elevator past a huge hole where the vats used to be. What do you want for $300 a month? Pictured is Kevin Popovic and Tom Dressler.
June 26 - July 9, 1991; Allegheny Business News / "Entrepreneurs of a New Generation" was the first piece of press we received. Pictured is Kevin Popovic and Tom Dressler with Kevin's daughter, Haley.
April 7-13, 1994; InPittsburgh Newsweekly / "Making Sex Look Cool: Ideahaus Re-Invents Metropol" was an examination of the little dash of Hedonism we added to the already edgy night club. Classic black-and-white nude photography, a couple well-placed colored violets - just add transsexuals on rollerskates.
August 1994; Filmet Color Labs / Magazine Advertisement/ "Think Big!" was part of a campaign our pre-press shop was running and tied well to our up-and-coming reputation. Our never-ending collection of toys served as easy art direction.
September 1994; Pittsburgh Post-Gazette / "PEOPLE: Dossier: Kevin Popovic" examines the lesser known details on Kevin's life including a secret vice for Sheaf's Stoudt and the "Mystery Meat" Sandwich.
January 23-29, 1995; Pittsburgh Business Times / "When Reverence for Re-engineering Increases Possibilities of Erruction" is a letter to the editor that calls it like he saw it. Overkill? You be the judge.
January 1995; Word on the street is that Kennywood Park is looking for an agency to handle the bar (then "Club Wet) within their waterpark, Sand Castle. Unanswered phone calls to get in on the pitch trigger a stakeout in their parking lot. Three hours later they're looking at our portfolio. On February 22 the account is ours.
February 1995; Art Direction Magazine / "Great Acoustics, Lousy Seats" was a mention then partner Jeff Jarzynka scored with a letter to the editor about our "Man from Nantucket'-ish limerick" for the Pittsburgh Symphony Society. The ad had scalpers selling tickets in the parking lot for the hottest night of their season but was kept far away from long-time conservative supporters.
August 26, 1995; Pittsburgh Tribune Review/"Upstart Ad Agency Attracts Attention" was a nice shot in the arm for all of us, although we took issue with "upstart" since we had been around for five years! At least they noticed;-)
September 11-17, 1995; Pittsburgh Business Times/"Radio Stations Want a Revolution" addresses change in the Pittsburgh airwaves. Kevin is interviewed for his perspective on the situation.

July 7-13, 1997; Pittsburgh Business Times / "Be true to your school (sponsor); Bottlers, sports suppliers target schools for marketing deals." looks at marketing trends in public schools. Kevin recounts a lesson learned in a high school marriage class, "There is no such thing as a free lunch."
October, 1997; Ideahaus.com is registered as the web domain for Ideahaus. The website is the first step in taking Ideahaus "to strange new heights." The original Idehaus logo is modified to reflect "a new slant on Ideahaus."

June 10, 2001; Ideahaus enters into the world of competitve sports by sponsoring "Ideahaus Racing", a mountain bike racing team. The teams first effort is the famed "24 hours at Snowshoe."
January 4, 2002; The Annual Ideahaus Holiday Party. So what do you do to follow up the limo from the year before? Fondue at Kevin's. This year's more family-oriented event was well attended. Some even said "classy." You'll have to see to believe;-)
